Elaine Shinholser Forester, 70, passed away Thursday (May 5, 2016) in Tucson, Ariz. from a rare neurological disease, corticobasal degeneration.
She was born in Waycross on Dec. 17, 1944 to the late Alonzo and Aileen Shinholser. She lived in Manor and graduated from Manor High School in 1962. After graduation, she attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
She moved to Jacksonville, Fla. in the summer of 1963 and began a career with Southern Bell. She was transferred to Denver, Colo., where she resided until retirement in 1995. She loved the Rockies and she and her family enjoyed many wonderful times there. She returned to Georgia in 1995 and was involved in many activities and reconnected with a lot of her friends and family.
She was married in 1964 to Doyle Laney, who was killed in an accident in March 1967, leaving her a young widow with a 21-month-old daughter, Susan.
Afterwards, she married Bill Morris and had two children, Dan and Dana. They divorced and she then married Darryl Forester in 1974, adding two step-daughters, Kim and Valerie, to the family when their mother passed away in 1981. She was a wonderful mother to five children, while also maintaining a career.
She and Darryl loved to travel and she was always ready at a moment’s notice to take long trips and tour our beautiful country. She always had time for her family and friends and never missed an opportunity to send cards for every holiday, birthday or special event. She spent her life helping others and was generous with both her time and her money. She was also an amazing cook and will always be remembered for her Milky Way cakes.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Berna Dean Thompson, and husbands, Doyle K. Laney and Darryl L. Forester.
Survivors include daughters, Susan Hayes (Troy), Dana Wilkinson (Mike), Kim Brothers, and Valerie Forester; son, Dan Morris (Beverly); grandchildren, David Mitchell (Samantha), Chandler Mitchell, Allie Mitchell, Cecilia, Marlaina and Caroline Wilkinson, Kaley and Jessica Brothers, Brittany Crossman; sister, Jo Duguid (Jim); sister-in-law Cynthia Casterline (Glenn); sister-in-law Lana Strawser; special family, Jackie, Rachel, Rebecca, Matthew and Elizabeth Wanderman; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She loved and adored them all.
A celebratory memorial service will be held at Victory (Booth) Methodist Church in Manor Saturday, June 25, at 4 p.m.

Blanche O. Mallory
Blanche Owens Mallory, 84, died Thursday morning (May 26, 2016) at her residence after a short illness.
She was a native of Coffee County, but she lived most of her life in Waycross. She was formerly employed by Ware Manor Nursing Home and was a member of Emmanuel International Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. She also volunteered at Brighter Days Ministries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James E. Owens and Bertha Ellis Owens, her husband, James Collis “J.C.” Mallory, and one daughter, Virginia Mallory.
Survivors include five children, Katherine Hart (Issa), of Valdosta, Katie M. James, of Waycross, Gloria A. Mallory, of Atlanta, Judy Yarbrough, of Waycross, and Dennis Mallory, of Waycross; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Paul L. Owens, of Brunswick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Moore and Lee Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 9 until 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Shirley D. Kimbrell
A funeral for Shirley D. Kimbrell was held Thursday morning at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Derwin Griffin and the Rev. J.D. Bowen officiating.
Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brad Fulford, Brian Fulford, Gage Fulford, Jerome Hanchey, Carl Powell, Andrew Steedley and David Walker.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were members of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
