Dudley C. Gahan
Dudley C. Gahan, 86, of Waycross, died Thursday afternoon (May 19, 2016) at Waycross Health and Rehab after an extended illness.
He was a native of New York State, born to the late Dudley M. and Charlotte Hackett Gahan. He grew up around the Buffalo, N.Y. area. He has resided in the southeast Georgia area since 1970 and retired from the Glynn County School Board.
He was a very active Brother in the Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons, permanent member of Grand Lodge of Georgia in Macon. His Masonic work extended to the Scottish Rite Valley of Savannah, where he was rewarded by his work by being made a member of the KCCH (Honorary Society of Scottish Rite Masons) York Rite of Brunswick. Gahan was member of the Brunswick Lodge 717 and also a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church in Waycross.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Gahan, of Waycross; a sister, Lois Heerdt, of Marysville, Tenn.; a nephew, Steve Bauer, of Washington, D.C.; a niece, Diane Beverly, of Peachtree City; a god-daughter, Deborah Easterbrook of Buffalo, N.Y.; numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Waycross. A Masonic memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Melba ‘Meb’ Boatright
Melba Earnestine “Meb” Winn Boatright, 88, of Bristol, passed away Friday morning (May 20, 2016) at the Pierce County Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the last several years.
Born in Bristol on July 6, 1927, she had lived in Pierce County all of her life. She was a homemaker and also farmed with her late husband raising hogs. She loved to work in the garden, loved animals and would “doctor” everyone in the neighborhood. She loved to call and visit with people after she went to the nursing home.
She was the last living sibling from a large family of 16 and was a member of the Bristol Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy Lee and Martha Ella Hyers Winn; her husband, Eldon Duward “Short” Boatright; nine sisters, Navarrah Aspinwall, Bea Boatright, Colleen Bowen, Pauline Hall, Dell Walker, Dot Thomas, Carol Bennett, Teamie Bennett and Sybil Harrison; and six brothers, Olan Winn, Dick Winn, Orval Winn, James Winn, Arylon Winn and Victor Winn.
Survivors include three children, Sandra Smith (husband Sidney), of Mershon, Wanda Mixon (husband Donald), of Waycross, and Duward Boatright (wife Mary Claire), of Bristol; six grandchildren, Nancy Malphurs (husband Robert), Meg Harter (husband Walker), Duward Boatright (wife Nancy), Barrett Boatright (wife Candace) and Claire Boatright; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Joyce Winn, of Blackshear, Grace Winn, of Blackshear, Debbie Winn, of Waycross and Doris Boatright, of Mershon; a brother-in-law, Tuck Boatright (wife Margie), of Mershon; and numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives.
The funeral will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the chapel of Pearson-Dial Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Martha Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday.

A funeral for Fonida Hutto Thomas was held Friday afternoon at Music Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Page officiating.
Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Greg Barineau, Lorne Barineau, Jerry Chastain, Harry Winder and Paul Winder.
Music Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A funeral service for Audrey Henderson Houston was held Friday afternoon at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Virlon Griner, the Rev. Steve Boatright and Robert M. Williams Jr. officiating.
Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Hendry, Tracy Hendry, Brian Hendry, Rickie Baldini, Richard Henderson and Dr. David Morton.
