Lola Grace Draffin
Lola Grace Thornton Draffin, 91, died Monday morning (May 11, 2015) at her residence after an extended illness.
She was a native of Offerman who resided in Marietta from 1975 until 2000 before moving back to Waycross. She was a homemaker and member of Christ Church. She was a former youth group helper and Sunday School teacher at Smyrna Church of the Nazarene.
She is the daughter of the late Simon Winfield Thornton and Mag Nola King Thornton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Albert Draffin, one son, Julius Albert Draffin Jr., two sisters, Nola Mae Tyre and Evonne Gurganus, and three brothers, Shorty Thornton, Tom Thornton and Fee Thornton.
Survivors include two daughters, Jean Draffin Lucas (Louie) and Lynn Draffin Snyder (Kris), both of Waycross; four grandchildren, Christina Lucas-Taylor (Richard), of Blackshear, Kathy Lee (Kyle), of Waycross, Katie Hatfield, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Joshua Hatfield, of Marietta; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Holmes, Hannah Holmes, Nathan Holmes, Steven Lee and Michael Rose; one sister, Adeline O’Banion, of Offerman; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Music Funeral Home.

Foster W. Kimbrell
BLACKSHEAR — Foster William Kimbrell, 88, of Blackshear, passed away Monday morning (May 11, 2015) at the Pierce County Nursing Home.
Born in Patterson, on Aug. 26, 1926, he lived in Pierce County most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II and farmed for many years. He owned and operated F.W. Kimbrell, Inc. Truck Company for 25 years and also owned and operated Kimbrell Farm Service for 10 years until his retirement in 1992.
He loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed planting a garden every year and was wanting to plant one this year but his health wouldn’t permit it. He was a member of Patterson Baptist Church.
He was a son of the late A.A. “Dutch” and Dillie Turner Kimbrell, and was also preceded in death by his brother, J.L. Kimbrell.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Joann Thrift Kimbrell, of Blackshear; a daughter, Pam Howard, of Blackshear; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Margie Kimbrell, of Patterson; four grandchildren, Sheila Howard, Jonathan Howard, Anna (Michael) Watson and Spec. Matthew (Miranda) Kimbrell; five great-grandchildren, Nicholaus Howard, Skylar Ray, Hunter Watson, Trent Watson, Jett Watson, and one on the way, “Little Foster”; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at Patterson Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Laura Chapel Cemetery.

Denise Sears Moody
NAHUNTA — Denise Sears Moody, 53, of Nahunta, passed away suddenly, Sunday evening (May 10, 2015) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
Born in Athens, she was the daughter of Gloria Popwell Sears, of Nahunta, and the late Claude Grayson “Joe” Sears.
She was a member of Nahunta First Baptist Church, and enjoyed swimming, fishing and tennis. She was a graduate of Georgia Southern University in 1987 and a nursing home administrator for many years before she started farming.
Survivors include her husband, Dan Moody, of Nahunta; her son, Zane Sears Moody, of Nahunta; her mother, Gloria Popwell Sears, of Nahunta; a sister, Dara Sears, of Nahunta; several other extended family members.
Visitation will be held this evening starting at 6 o’clock at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock at Frye Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Rowell and Zane Moody officiating.
Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clinton Davis, Phillip Popwell, Jason Bolin, Bud Badyna, D.J. Johns and Allen Strickland.
Family and pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home Wednesday by 10:30 a.m.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

Barbara Jean Drawdy Bodenhamer, 78, died suddenly Monday (May 11, 2015) at her residence in Waycross.

Emma Burden, 68, of 122 Leo Marshall Drive, Blackshear, passed early Tuesday morning (May 5, 2015) at Southeast Georgia Medical Center, Brunswick, after a brief illness with her family close by.
The family is receiving friends at the residence. Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 7 p.m.
The funeral will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Zion Baptist Church, Lee Street, Blackshear. Pastor Jimmy L.R. Green will offer words of comfort. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.
The cortege will assemble at the residence at 10:15 a.m. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
Rainge Memorial Chapel of Blackshear is in charge of arrangements.

Frankie B. Buchanan, 77, died Tuesday morning (May 12, 2015) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after an extended illness.
