Rosetta W. Kitchen
Rosetta Wesley Kitchen, born Sept. 30, 1928 in Telmore, died Sunday (March 1, 2015) after a brief illness.
She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Dora Mote Wesley.
Friends are being received at the family residence, 1502 Walter St., Waycross.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Michael Anthony Houston, 55, of Los Angeles, Calif., passed away Wednesday (Feb. 25, 2015) following a lengthy illness.

Ben Middleton, 81, died Monday morning (March 2, 2015) at his residence following an extended illness.

William E. Strickland
NAHUNTA — William Edward Strickland, 68, of Nahunta, died Saturday morning (Feb. 28, 2015) at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick after an extended illness.
Born in Nahunta, he was the son of Matthew E. and Geardene M. Harris Strickland. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Terry Strickland and Charles Strickland.
He was a truck driver and of the Baptist faith. He loved hunting and fishing and was a member of Logville C.B. Club.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Douberly Strickland, of Nahunta; a son, William Matthew Strickland, of Nahunta; a daughter, Susan Lynette Lane (Gary Wainright), of Nahunta; five grandchildren, Christopher Lane, Caleb Lane, Colby Lane, Justin Strickland and CeeGee Strickland; two brothers, Derek Strickland and Darryl “Skinner” Strickland, all of Nahunta; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held this evening starting at 6 o’clock at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Hendrix and the Rev. Jody Griffin officiating.
Burial will follow in Smyrna Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Lane, Colby Lane, Justin Strickland, Jesse Strickland, Gary Wainright and Allen Luwisch.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Hospice of the Golden Isles and Dr. Chitty.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

Glenn H. Hartman Jr.
HOBOKEN — Glenn Henry Hartman Jr., 81, of Hoboken, died Friday evening (Feb. 27, 2015) at BayView Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Born in Scott, Ga., he was the son of the late Glenn Henry Sr. and Mattie Mae Cooper Hartman.
He worked 34 years with Turner Electric as a motor winder and was of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Virginia Maxine Baker Hartman, of Hoboken; a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn H. Hartman III (Theresa), of Hoboken; four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda O’Berry, of Hoboken, Glenda Farris (Bill), of Nahunta, Linda Carter (Brad), of Hoboken, and Cindy Ward (Mike), of St. Augustine, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.
A funeral was scheduled for this morning at 11 in the chapel of Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta, with the Rev. Jason Marden officiating. Burial was to follow in High Bluff Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Glenn Hartman III, Donnie O’Berry, Bill Farris, Wayne O’Berry, Ronnie Hickox and Josh Bennett.
The family is gathering at the home of Glenn and Theresa Hartman III, 471 Outback Loop, Hoboken.

Dorothy M. Dixon
Dorothy McLaughlin Dixon, 84, died Friday evening (Feb. 27, 2015) at her residence following a short illness.
She was born in Lexington, Ky., but resided in Waycross most of her life.
She was a member of Deenwood Baptist Church and a homemaker whose hobbies included her love for sewing, crocheting and shopping.
She was a daughter of the late Luther Thomas McLaughlin and Dorothy Mae Reynolds McLaughlin. She was married to the late Lee L. Dixon, and was preceded in death by two children, Linda Lee Dixon and Henry Lee Dixon, a brother, Robert Lee McLaughlin, and two sisters, Peggy Joyce McLaughlin and Sylvia Elizabeth Martin.
She is survived by three daughters, Dianna Aldridge (husband, Lacy), of Blackshear, Mona Boan (husband, Norman), of Waycross, and Jenny Bates (husband, Newton), of Waycross; a son, Mac Dixon (wife, Suzanne), of Waycross; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Aldridge, Hannah Davis (husband, Drew), Dustin Boan (wife, Bridget), Zach Boan, Savannah Boan, Tiffany Kirkland (fiancé, Chris Bowers), Duncan Kirkland, Leah Dixon, Brad Dixon and Megan Dixon; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Luther Thomas “Tommy” McLaughlin (wife, Sheila), of Rainbow City, Ala., Henry S. McLaughlin (wife, Lisa), of Waycross, and Jimmy McLaughlin, of Bainbridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. today at Deenwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today at the church from 1:30 until 3 o’clock.
