Two drivers were injured Tuesday when their vehicles collided head-on in the center turn lane of Memorial Drive between City Boulevard and Palmetto Drive, but only one chose to seek medical treatment, said Waycross Police Capt. Tommy Cox.
Dollie White, 67, of Millwood, was taken by a Ware County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross emergency room for treatment of her injuries, said Cox.
Eric Phan, 31, of Waycross, complained of injury but declined transport to the ER, said Cox.
Phan was cited for improper use of a center turn lane, said Cox.
Driving a 2007 Mercury Mariner, White had established her spot in the center turn lane and was waiting for traffic to clear to make a left turn into the Firehouse Subs parking lot, said Cox.
Phan, driving a 2007 Honda Accord, moved into the center turn lane and struck White’s vehicle head-on, said Cox. Both vehicles had extensive damage.
Officer Tyler Wescott investigated the 6:45 p.m. accident.
