BLACKSHEAR — A Waycross man sustained superficial injuries Tuesday when his vehicle crashed on Tuten Road at Pine Crest Lane in Pierce County, said the Georgia State Patrol.
Randy Johns, 33, did not require medical treatment following the crash and was not transported to a medical facility, said Amanda Dixon, GSP Waycross post secretary.
Johns was charged with driving while intoxicated (alcohol), failure to maintain a lane, driving a vehicle with an expired tag, hit-and-run, driving while license is suspended and no proof of insurance, said Dixon.
Driving a Jeep Compass, Johns was headed north on Tuten Road. As he rounded a left-hand curve, the vehicle left the roadway and traveled 78 feet down the shoulder of the roadway.
Dixon said the vehicle then crossed over Pine Crest Road and hit a stop sign, then continued for 36 feet and struck a ditch on the east side of the roadway.
Johns then backed out of the ditch and headed east on Pine Crest Road. The damaged vehicle came to a final stop at 2271 Pine Crest Road, Dixon said.
Trooper Merritt Meeks investigated the 10:11 p.m. accident.
