BLACKSHEAR — A 17-year-old man was injured Thursday when he was robbed and assaulted by a man who was later arrested, said Blackshear Police Chief Chris Wright.
Randolph Raheem Jones Jr., 19, of Blackshear (he moved here three months ago from Jacksonville, Fla.), was taken into custody and charged with robbery and assault, said Wright.
The victim was walking on Keller Street near Colonial Homes about 2:30 p.m. Thursday when a man wearing red shorts stepped out and demanded he empty his pockets.
Wright said that when the victim refused, Jones grabbed him, hit him about the face, then took his cell phone and money from his pockets.
When detectives located Jones, he was still wearing the clothes the victim described, said Wright.
The victim was injured but did not require medical attention, said Wright.
Jones was being held in the Pierce County jail.
