Two people were hurt when the four-wheeler they were riding overturned in southwest Ware County Saturday evening, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
The operator, Hampton William Pittman, 79, of Manor, suffered injuries to his arm and hand in the accident, and his granddaughter, who was a passenger, Mellissa Daniels, 17, of Manor, complained of back pain, Royal said.
They were transported by Ware County EMS to Mayo Health Clinic in Waycross for treatment.
Pittman told the investigating officer, Deputy Devon Rios, that they were riding on Kite Road, four miles south of Leo Barber Road, when the Honda Fourtrax hit a washout in the road and became airborne, Royal said. The four-wheeler left the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned, landing on top of him and his granddaughter.
The accident took place at 6:09 p.m. Saturday, Royal said.
