Ware County High School’s Kim Bennett Callahan was selected as one of 20 teachers in Georgia to attend Georgia’s first Work Based Learning Top Gun Training in Gainesville at Lanier Career Charter Academy. In partnership with the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development a workshop was organized to provide specialized training to a select group of WBL coordinators. Those completing the training received credentials and will be “pinned” in a WBL Top Gun recognition ceremony at the GACTE Conference this month. The selection of participants was based on the FY14 WBL Data Report. Using a specially devised point system coordinators were chosen by region as indicated: NW Region – 4 participants, NE Region – 4 participants, WC Region – 3 participants, EC Region – 3 participants, SW Region – 3 participants, and SE Region – 3 participants. Each Top Gun participant received a Marketing and Public Relations tool kit which will enable them to more effectively market and brand their program and increase connections with the business and industry sector. The marketing kit includes: tri-board display unit, custom fabric panels for display unit, WBL scrim banner with display stand, custom table runner, linen tablecloth, easel, and foam board display poster as well as customized promotional items valued at approximately $1,000 each. The kit is ready for exhibits, career fairs, community meetings and similar events.
