James K. Peek Jr.
James K. “Jimmy” Peek Jr., 93, died Tuesday afternoon (June 28, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following a brief illness.
He was a native and life-long resident of Ware County, the son of the late James K. Peek Sr. and Ruby Melvin Peek. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Peek DeHay, and a great-granddaughter, Kierston Baye Dial.
Immediately after graduating from high school in 1943, he joined the United States Army and served for two and a half years during World War II.
He was the manager of the Waycross YMCA when it was located on Screven Avenue and later when it relocated to the old Ware Hotel building. He retired after 42 years of service.
He was a member of Jamestown Baptist Church and the Faithful Followers Sunday School Class. Prior to becoming a member of Jamestown Baptist, he was a long-time member of Hebardville Baptist Church where he served as deacon, church treasurer and on the building and grounds committee.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Pansy Woods Peek, of Waycross; a daughter, Kay Peek Hill (husband, Kevin), of Waycross; a son, Tim Peek, of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren, Kenny Ray Dial (wife, Lindsey), of Kuna, Idaho, Kevin Lee Dial (wife, Brooke), of Waycross, Kimberly Donato (husband, Kevin), of Hawaii, and Kaleb Hill, of Waycross; great-grandchildren Mason, Makayla, Lydia, Khloe, Colton, Addilyn and Keaton; and a sister, Mary Peek “Betty” Cincebox, of Waycross.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Members of the Faithful Followers Sunday School Class of Jamestown Baptist Church are asked to gather at the funeral home at 10:40 a.m. Friday to serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral Home.

Lana Ruth Loback
BLACKSHEAR — Lana Ruth Cochran Loback, 55, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday afternoon (June 28, 2016) at her residence following a short illness.
Born in Blackshear July 4, 1960, she lived in Palm Springs, Fla., for a number of years before moving back to Pierce County in 1996. She was a registered respiratory therapist for Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross.
She loved to travel, being at the beach and listening to all kinds of music. She also enjoyed crafts, sewing, gardening and kayaking. She was a people person and had an entertaining personality. Over the years she worked with the Girl Scouts and served, with her husband, Jack, as the youth leaders at Blackshear First United Methodist Church where she was a member.
She was a devoted wife and mother and will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Robert “J.R.” Cochran, and by a sister, Wanda Jean Cochran.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Loback, of Blackshear; two daughters, Jordyn Loback and Michaela Loback, both of St. Simons Island; her mother, Ruth Rutherford Cochran, of Blackshear; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathy and Gerald Steward and Donna and Johnny Deloach, all of Blackshear; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at First United Methodist Church.
Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 until 9 at the funeral home.

Frank Poller, 86, the husband of Francine Poller, died Wednesday evening (June 29, 2016) at his residence after an illness.
