Faye Parnell Callahan
Faye Parnell Callahan, 82, died Wednesday evening (June 17, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following a short illness.
She was born in Bishopville, S.C. Sept. 13, 1932. She lived in Goldsboro, N.C. and graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1950. She attended Emmanuel College in Franklin Spring and graduated in 1954. She moved to Georgia in 1954 and graduated from Georgia Southern College with a bachelor of arts and masters in education.
She taught school in Hoboken for 30 years where she began and retired from the same school. She was a member of the Georgia Retired Educators Association and the Brantley County Retired Educators Association where she served as president for five years.
She was presently a member of Kettle Creek Church and attended Bible Heritage Pentecostal Holiness Church for 30 years. She taught Adult Sunday School Classes at Bible Heritage and was organist for 16 years. She also taught the Sunshine Bible Class and played organ at Kettle Creek Church for 18 years and retired from playing in 2002. She served as a deacon there for one term too.
She was a daughter of the late William King Parnell and Estelle Owens Parnell. She was married to the late Archie Callahan. She was preceded in death by three brothers, W.C. Parnell Sr., the Rev. H.O. Parnell and L.K. Parnell, and two sisters, Henrietta Sullivan and Vivan Hamilton.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Marie Hodge, of West Palm Beach, Fla., W.C. Parnell Jr. (Darlene), of Beavercreek, Ohio, Judy Field (Bill), of Allen, Texas, David Parnell (Barbara), of Waco, Texas, Kevin Davis, of Dublin, Ray Hamilton (Betty) of Goldsboro, N.C., Carol Williams (Kenneth), of Newport, N.C., Roger Hamilton (Jeanne), of Goldsboro, N.C., Ruth Ann Palazzo, of Newport, N.C., Michael Hamilton, of Smithfield, N.C., Carolyn Lunsford (James), of Florence, S.C., Rex Parnell, of Edenton, N.C., Barbara Small, of Effingham, S.C., Ellen Moore, of Beckley, W.Va.; and very special friends, Ed and Leea Dowling, of Waycross, Laure Dowling, of St. Simons Island, Jennifer and Lauren Dowling, of Palm Harbor, Fla., Tom and Pam Gillett, of Monroe, Nicole, Chad and Hudson Bruner, of Monroe, Tyler Gillett, of Monroe, JoAnn Mims, of Waycross, and her Kettle Creek Church family, of Waycross.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Kettle Creek Church. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning at the church from 10 until 11 o’clock.
The Sunshine Sunday School Class of Kettle Creek Church and members of the Brantley County Retired Educators are asked to meet at the church Saturday by 10:40 p.m. to serve as honorary pallbearers.

Cyril Maynard Morris
Cyril Maynard Morris, 91, died Thursday morning (June 18, 2015) at Satilla Care Center after an extended illness.
He was a native of Lakeland, Fla., but lived most of his life in Waycross. Following his service in the United States Navy during World War II, he was employed by CSX Railroad where he retired as a mechanical department supervisor after 40 years of service. As a faithful member of Central Baptist Church, he served as a former deacon and member of the Merrymaker’s.
He was also a former member of the Exchange Club of Ware County and CSX Officer’s Club. He was former member of the board of directors of Atlantic Coast Bank.
He was the son of the late Albert Edward Morris and Nellie Isabelle Leuty Morris. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Marilyn Morris, grandson, Josh Morrison, and two brothers, Ronald Morris and Fred Morris.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Margaret Elizabeth Fox Morris, of Waycross; three daughters, Janet Jacobs (husband, Alin), of Daytona Beach, Fla., Brenda Sapp (husband, Gene), of Blackshear, and Bea Johnston (husband, John), of Burlington, N.C.; one brother, Herbert Morris, of Housatonic, Mass.; four grandchildren, Melissa Morrison (husband, Don), Stephen Sapp (wife, Stacey), Jennifer Wallace (husband, David) and Matthew Johnston; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Abbey, Maggie, Georgia and Ashton; step-son, Marc Jacobs (wife, Sheri); step-great-granddaughter, Mila; lifelong friend, Evelyn Walker, of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at Central Baptist Church. Private burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.
