Carolyn L. Chatman
A celebration of life service for Carolyn L. Chatman will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Lion of Judah Church of God in Christ, 2913 Albany Ave., with the church pastor, Elder Danny Buskey, offering words of comfort.
Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
The funeral cortege will leave from the Wesley residence at 2:15 p.m.
The body will lie in repose at the church Saturday from 1 p.m. to the hour of service.
She was born Dec. 31, 1952, in Waycross, the 11th child of the late Selmon Chatman Sr. and Addie Haugabrooks Chatman.
She received her formal education from the Cook County and the Ware County school system. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She was a member of True House of Deliverance Holiness Church for many years. She later joined Lion of Judah Church of God in Christ where she enjoyed her last years as a member. She was employed at Memorial Hospital for many years and was a long time employee of the Shoney’s Company.
She was a loving and kind person who loved her family and friends. She was always the life of the cookout and events.
She departed this life Saturday (June 11, 2016) after an illness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Fredrick Spearman, a granddaughter, Alexis Chatman, siblings, Inez Chatman, Jessie Mae Chatman, Ernest Chatman and Selmon Chatman Jr.
Her precious memory will be cherished by a special companion, Ruben Dwight Robinson, of Waycross; her children, Ernest Chatman, Jennifer, of Waycross, Traci Wesley (Lucius Jr.), of Blackshear, Jennifer Chatman (Brian) and Victoria Mears (Tovuan), of Waycross; 19 grandchildren including a special grandson that she raised as her own, Fredrick Spearman Jr.; three great-grandchildren; nine siblings, Freddie Chatman (Sharon), of New Jersey, Sallie Scriven (Raleigh), Juanita Burse (James), Robert Chatman, all of Waycross, Eddie B. Chatman (Sarah), of Delaware, Jackie Chatman, of Adel, Doris Chatman, of Atlanta, Mary Chatman (Al), of Delaware, and Linda Chatman, of Jacksonville, Fla.; special daughters, Nicole Lewis, Linda Paulk, Helena McKoy, Tanickia Johnson, Daffanni Byrd; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Barbara Hawkins, Gloria Cooper, Pastor Juliet Howard and Karen Kaison.
Friends are being received at her residence, 509 Garlington Ave., and the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Lucius Wesley Jr., 6605 Christie Circle (behind Farr’s Furniture off Highway 84).
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Fluker Funeral Home.
Lula Mae D. Mullis
A funeral for Lula Mae Dempsey Mullis was held Thursday morning at Music Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Kenneth Hayes and Bishop Jerry Knowlton officiating.
Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brandon Carlson, Chuck Dawkins, James A. King, Ken Mullis III, Pat Mullis, Aaron Musgrove and Jason Musgrove.
Grandchildren served as honorary pallbearers.
Music Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
