Michael Bernard Lee
Michael Bernard Lee, 45, of Waycross, died Saturday (May 30, 2015) at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick after a sudden illness.
He was born in Waycross to Bonnie McCarthy Lee and the late William Bernard Lee.
He moved to Hinesville at an early age, where he was raised. He lived there until moving back to Waycross in 1985. He was previously employed at M&M Grocery, Coca-Cola and Pepsi and was currently working in the construction industry.
He was a member of Waresboro United Methodist Church. He loved to fish, and enjoyed spending his time doing anything he could outdoors. He will forever be remembered for his ability to make people laugh. His sense of humor always brought smiles to the faces of those around him and he got great enjoyment in the ability to brighten someone’s day.
He is survived by three children, Deanne Woods (husband Dustin), of Hoboken, Cheyenne Lee, of Waycross, Josie Lee, of Waycross; a granddaughter, Palmer Lee Woods, of Hoboken; his mother, Bonnie Lee, of Waycross; two sisters, Nina Alverson (husband Bubba), of Waycross, Heather Rothfeldt, of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Hephzibah Cemetery in Dixie Union.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Scott Hearn
CORDELE — A funeral for Scott Hearn, of Cordele, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with the committal service following in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Scott, 69, passed away Friday (May 29, 2015) at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Ware County and was the son of the late Walter Scott and Ruth Louise Hearn. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired banker of more than 30 years.
He shared his beautiful voice with many as he served as music director for churches for 30-plus years. Until his health no longer permitted, he was an active member of Cordele First United Methodist Church.
He was a past president of the Cordele Lions Club and was a member of the Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce. He was also involved with musical theater in the Art Alliance.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Glenda Hearn; a daughter and her husband, Shelly and Todd Helms, of Cordele; a brother and his wife, Jon and Marietta Hearn, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister and her husband, Joy and Bob Gibson, of Blairsville; and two granddaughters, Karsen Helms and Haley Helms.

Mildred Gaskin McCall
Mildred Edwards Gaskin McCall, 89, died Tuesday morning (May 26, 2015) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after an extended illness.
She was a native of Richmond, Va., but she had lived most of her life in Waycross. She was formerly employed by Bennett Brothers as a bookkeeper.
She had been a very active member of First Baptist Church Blackshear but was currently a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church.
She is the daughter of the late Robert Dewey Edwards and Margaret L. Ball Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James M. Gaskin, her second husband, Eugene McCall, her oldest daughter, Barbara Lee Wilder, and one brother, Richard Edwards.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Silver, of Waycross, and Pat Buckins (Larry), of Waycross; four grandchildren, Laura Lynn Wilder, James Scott Wilder, April Hanna (Morris) and Kevin Buckins; and three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Wilder, Charlie Hanna and Walker Hanna.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Billy Hamilton, 84, departed this life on Saturday morning (May 30, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross after an illness.

Freddie M. Hill Sr.
Freddie M. Hill Sr., 75, of Waycross, passed away Friday (May 29, 2015) at Satilla Care Center, 1600 Riverside Ave., with his daughters and other close relatives at his bedside.
The family is receiving friends at the home of his daughter, Denise McGauley, 5305 McGauley Road, Blackshear.

Albert Hall Sr.
Albert Hall Sr., 93, of 54 Henry St., Nahunta, passed away Friday (May 29, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Waycross.
Friends are being received at the residence.
Left to cherish his memories are a loving and adoring wife, Annie Bell Hall, and two daughters, Annie Mae Rainge (Daniel Jr.) and Mary Lee Hall.

Etta Mae Hilliard
Etta Mae Hilliard, 92, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Blackshear, passed Friday (May 29, 2015) in Jacksonville, Fla.
A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., at Scott Chapel United Methodist Church, Highway Avenue, Blackshear, pastored by the Rev. Donald Mathis.
The Rev. Al Jordan, pastor of Mt. Herman Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Fla., will bring words of comfort for the family.
Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery, Moore Street, Blackshear.
Left to cherish her memories are a sister, Irene McFarlin, nephews, Jerry West, James West, Johnny West and Daryl Pender, nieces, Rosa Lee Siplin and Evangelist Jeanette Rolle, and several other relatives and good friends.

James ‘Benny’ Lee
STATESBORO — James Benjamin “Benny” Lee, 71, of Statesboro, passed away Saturday (May 30, 2015) at his residence following a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Waycross on Sept. 9, 1943, he had lived in several different cities in Georgia over the years including Blackshear, Dublin, Milledgeville and Statesboro, to which he moved to in November.
He was a 1961 graduate of Blackshear High School and had served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He had worked in the insurance business for many years with Woodmen of the World before going into business for himself working as an insurance broker.
He attended Covenant Presbyterian Church in Milledgeville and enjoyed fishing, watching old TV shows —especially The Andy Griffith Show — and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
He was a son of the late James Henry Lee.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Gloss Lee, of Statesboro; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kelly and Missy Lee, of Statesboro, Matt and Candi Lee, of Blackshear, and Adam and Kim Lee, of Columbus; his mother, Wanda Dixon Lee Hill, of Statesboro; three grandchildren, Jackie Lee, Mattie Lee, Thomas Lee; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning at the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery.
The family kindly requests members of the Blackshear High School Class of 1961 to serve as honorary pallbearers. They are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A funeral service for Joe Richard Kinnon, 58, of Waycross, took place Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Dr. Freddie Smith officiating.
Memorialization was by cremation.
Hart Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge of arrangements.
