Dr. Ray S. Eleazer
Dr. Ray Shealy Eleazer, 92, of Blackshear, died Friday (July 29, 2016) at his residence in Blackshear after an extended illness.
Dr. Eleazer was born Dec. 21, 1923, in White Rock, S.C., to the late Miles Holland and Katie Ola Shealey Eleazer. He graduated from Irmo High School, the University of South Carolina and Emory University School of Dentistry.
While attending Emory he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Epsilon Honor Society. After graduation he moved to Waycross to begin his dental practice. He was a dedicated dentist for almost 40 years. He loved his patients and was held in high regard.
Dr. Eleazer was called to serve his county in the United States Army. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a faithful member of Grace Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and taught Sunday School.
Honorary accomplishments were bestowed on Dr. Eleazer during his life. Among the many were Georgia Dental Association Certificate of Life Membership, Georgia Dental Association 50-year award for dedicated service to the profession and The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Georgia. As a Master Mason of Waycross Lodge No. 305 he had been raised of that sublime degree for 60 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Edwin Eleazer, a sister-in-law, Jenny Eleazer, and an infant grandson, Matthew Ryan Nash.
He is survived by his wife, Lorita Heriot Ryan Eleazer, of Wedgefield, S.C., who he married on June 10, 1944. They recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.
This union produced three children, Dr. Paul (Jeanne) Eleazer, Margaret (Julian) Merchant, and Janie (Wayne) Boyette; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. in the church Parrish Hall.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 401 Pendleton St., Waycross, Ga. 31501.

Infant Daniel Howard
COLUMBIA – The funeral for Infant Daniel Fischer Howard will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Spears Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Daniel was received back into the arms of Jesus after a short time here on earth. He was the son of Tyler Scott and Jennifer Fales Howard.
Surviving are his parents of Columbia, S.C.; a brother, Fletcher Scott Howard; paternal grandparents, Scott Howard (Melissa), and Melody Hutchinson; maternal grandparents, Larry and Lisa Fales; great-grandparents, Bobbie Howard, Marie and Doug Mullis, Ronnie and Phyllis Spradley, Catherine Fales and Bonnie and Joe Street; and aunts and uncles, Logan and Sara Fales, Dylan Howard, J.J. Hickson and Paige Hickson.

Rose Anne Thornton
BLACKSHEAR — The funeral for Rose Anne Boatright Thornton, 51, was held Friday morning at 11 o’clock in the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Officiating was the Rev. R.C. James.
Interment was in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Bacon County.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Pierce County High School class of 1982.
Pearson-Dial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
