William C. Lewis
NAHUNTA — William Carroll “Honky Tonk” Lewis, 64, of Nahunta, passed away early Friday morning (July 24, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross after a brief illness.
Born in Raybon, his parents were the late Ulice Spencer “Bunt” Lewis and Vera Evelyn Mobley Lewis. He was also preceded in death by his brother, John Darwin Lewis.
Carroll was a member of Little Creek Baptist Church in Jesup. He worked many years as a carpenter for Neal Moon Contractors and served in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing and loved to work with flowers.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Lewis, of Blackshear; a son and daughter-in-law, Shane Griffin (Evamarie), of California; a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal Joyner Simpson (Daniel), of Blackshear; seven grandchildren, Isaac Simpson, Zack Simpson, Thomas Carl “T.C” Hope, Steven, Justin, Robert, and Zachariah Griffin; his step-mother, Bonnell Lewis, of Jesup; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Elaine Thornton, of Nahunta, Dianne Manning (Rev. Wayne), of Jesup; an aunt, Yvonne Lewis, of Raybon; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held this evening starting at 6 at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at Frye Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Manning Jr. and the Rev. Wayne Manning Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow in Rob Lewis Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Isaac Simpson, Darwin Lewis, Neil Moon, Barry Manning, Liston Wainright, Gary Manning Jr. and Richard Thornton.
Family and pallbearers are asked to meet at the Funeral Home Sunday by 2:30 p.m.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A graveside service for Infant Gracie Jane Smith was held Friday morning at Kettle Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Crawford officiating.
Music Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
