Katherine K. Reaves
A celebration of life service for Katherine Kemp Reaves, 84, of Bronx, N.Y., will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, 1015 Ossie Davis Parkway with the church pastor, the Rev. Rochelle McCrae, offering words of comfort.
Interment will be in Hazzard Hill Cemetery.
The body will lie in repose at the church Monday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
She was born Sept. 11, 1931 in Waycross to the late James and Norien Mills Kemp. She received her formal education from the Waycross public school system and graduated from Center High School. She furthered her education by receiving a bachelor of arts degree from Morris Brown College in Atlanta and a master of arts degree in social work from Fordham University in the Bronx, N.Y. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
At an early age, she joined Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. After moving to New York City as a young adult she became a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Harlem, N.Y. where she was a member until her demise.
She loved life and family. Her retirement in 1993 (after 32 years of work with the New York City Department of Social Services) allowed for decades of travel and quality time with her family and loved ones.
She departed this life Saturday (July 9, 2016) in Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, N.Y. after an illness.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Kemp Reaves (Rose), of Nanuet, N.Y., and Olen Kevin Reaves (Margaret), of Dothan, Ala.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous cousins and friends.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Fluker Funeral Home.
Ruth Smith Lee
Ruth Smith Lee, 77, of Bainbridge, passed away Thursday (July 14, 2016) at her residence.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday (July 22) at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Mark Jones officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Ivey Funeral Home.

She was born Dec. 30, 1938, in Homerville, the daughter of John Calvin Smith and Susan Emma Fulford Smith. She was a graduate of Waycross High School, class of 1956, and was of the Methodist faith.
She was an avid gardener and loved baking cakes, pies and cookies to share with her friends and neighbors. She dearly loved her family, doing for others and helping in her church.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Jim Lee, of Bainbridge; her daughters, Pamela Lee, of Bainbridge, and Melinda “Lindy” Reid (husband, Joe), of Traverse City, Mich.; her sisters, Lucy Bell Jordan, of Lakeland, Ga., and Helen Brown, of Archer, Fla.; her grandson, Justin Reid, of Traverse City, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
Ivey Funeral Home is serving the family.
Era ‘Becky’ Johnson
Era Rebecca “Becky” Johnson, 65, of Waycross, died early Wednesday morning (July 13, 2016) at her residence following an extended illness.
Born Jan. 7, 1951 in Adel, she grew up in Fernandina Beach, Fla., and lived in Augusta before moving to Waycross in the 1990’s. She worked as a waitress at several restaurants, including the Green Frog in Waycross and Shoney’s in Augusta, and had also been a manager at Advance Auto Parts in Waycross. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Milton and Era Belle Cason Fulgham, and a sister, Linda Hickox.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Arnold Johnson, of Waycross; her son, Arnold Johnson Jr., of Waycross; her daughter, Brenda M. Johnson, of Waycross; two granddaughters, Elaina Nicole Delgato (husband, Marc), of Norfolk, Va., and Katelyn Johnson, of Savannah; a great-granddaughter, Abbey Delgato, of Norfolk, Va.; two brothers, Charles Fulgham (wife, Debbie), of Waycross, and Hillary Fulgham, of Hawaii; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will take place Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1622 Gibbs St., Waycross.
Memorialization is by cremation.

BLACKSHEAR — The funeral for Adam Douglas Noel, 28, was held Friday morning at 11 o’clock at First United Methodist Church.
Officiating were the Rev. David Unkles and the Rev. Robert Wood.
Interment was in the Little Utah Cemetery in Axson.
Active pallbearers were Jason Sullivan, Daniel Hall, Drew Dodd, Donnie Roberson, Scott Cason and Dennis Fulford III.
Honorary pallbearers were Opal Denison, Candice Thorne, Annette Thorne, Christie Christopher and the staff of Pearson-Dial Funeral Home.

Avery Lee Griffin
A funeral for Avery Lee Griffin was held Friday morning at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Hoboken with the Rev. Mike Yawn officiating.
Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eddie Hanchey, Kendall Thomas, Jimmy Lee, Jerry Johnson, James Griffin and Skipper Harris.
Miles-Odum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
A funeral for James “Coach Jimmy” Johnson was held Friday afternoon at Winona Park United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Page and the Rev. Jonathan Smith officiating.
Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry Barber, Lynn Barber, Will Booth, Robert Cole, Tony Tanner and Doug Vinson.

Frank W. Hinton
NAHUNTA — Frank Wesley Hinton, 65, of Nahunta, passed away Thursday afternoon (July 14, 2016) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick after a brief illness.
Born in St. Augustine, Fla., he was the son of William Berry and Frankie Mae Christian Hinton. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin Cole Everett, three brothers, William Hinton, David Hinton and James Hinton, and a sister, Janie Blair.
He served in the United States Marine Corp and was a retired supervisor for Proficient Auto Transport Inc. He also attended Nahunta Church of God and loved fishing, football and keeping up with current events.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Rhonda Sapp Hinton, of Nahunta; a son, Cody Allen Hinton, of Brunswick; three daughters, Brandy Susan Hinton (Horace Everett Jr.), of Nahunta, Christy Michelle Hinton, of Oakland, Calif., and Melanie Nichole Hinton, of Nahunta; five grandchildren, Katie Funderburk, Adam Christian Hinton, Michael Christopher Everett, Wesley Hinton and Lexi Hinton; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Janette Hinton, Bobby and Dorothy Hinton, and Roger and Debbie Hinton, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Virginia Mosley, of Middleburg, Fla., and Josephine Prevatt, of Merriott, Calif.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening starting at 6 o’clock at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A graveside service will be held Monday morning at 11 with military honors at Sapp Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Florey officiating.

Jennie M. Norton
ALMA — Jennie Marie Norton, 79, of Alma passed away on Thursday (July 14, 2016) at Baptist Village in Waycross after an extended illness.
She was daughter of the late Willard Lee and Hazel Louise Dunlap Lee and preceded in death by her husband, John Lacy Norton, a sister, Anna Margaret Mann, and a special friend, Eugene “Red” Waters. She was retired from Milliken as secretary. She worked with as clerk at the Bacon County Tax Commissioners Office and was a member of Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Walter Lee, of Waycross, and Greg Lee, of Alma; and three sisters, Cornelia Ann Johnson and Betty Gail Clark (Jim), of Alma, and Doris Faye Boatright (Frank), of Waycross.
The funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Delk, Jerald Douglas and David Alderman officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be Terry Wayne Johnson, Christopher Priester, Walter Shawn Lee, Adam Boatright, Alan Dunlap and Peter Lee.
