Ivey Russell Walker
Ivey Russell “Rusty” Walker, 52, died Thursday morning (Jan. 7, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Waycross after an extended illness.
He was a native of Ware County, but most recently resided in Blackshear. He was a former self-employed carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ivey Walker.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Solomon, of Waycross; one son, Johnathan Walker, of Waycross; longtime companion, Amanda Cooper; three grandchildren, James, Summer and Madison Solomon; his mother, Barbara Stone Walker, of Blackshear; four brothers, Ricky Walker (Ellen), of Hoboken, Chester Walker (Liz), of Blackshear, Donald Walker (Kristy), of Blackshear, and Randy Walker, of Blackshear; two sisters, Sheila Smith (Jerry Murray) and Becky Walker, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Bridge Community Church in Blackshear.
Interment will follow in High Bluff Cemetery in Brantley County.
The family will receive friends 5 until 7 p.m. today at Music Funeral Home.

Donald Edward Boss
JESUP — Donald Edward Boss, 89, of Jesup, passed away Thursday morning (Jan. 7, 2016) at the Altamaha Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Baltimore, Md., Oct. 14, 1926, he lived in Woodbine and Hortense before moving to Jesup a few years ago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II. He was a retired electrician having worked for Kinny Cott Industries and Union Carbide. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Jesup.
He was a son of the late Henry J. and Helen Granger Boss. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann Griffin, a son, Jessie Lamar Roberson, and all of his brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Helen “Jack” Lucas Boss, of Jesup; three daughters, Cynthia (Rick) Rouse, of Herndon, Va., Wanda (Kenneth) Sellers, of Hortense, and Mary Redick (Jim Googe), of Waycross; a son, Gregory (Janet) Boss, of Ellicott, Md.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held Monday morning at 11 o’clock at the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Offerman Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Dorothy Martin Powell
BLACKSHEAR — Dorothy Ann Martin Powell, 86, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday evening (Jan. 7, 2016) at the Pierce County Nursing Home.
Born in Americus, Oct. 10, 1929, she lived in Duval County for many years before moving to Pierce County in 2003. She was a retired secretary-bookkeeper for Duval County Public Schools and was a very active member of the former North Main Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School.
After moving to Pierce County, she joined Blackshear First Baptist Church where she was in the Enriched Sunday School Class. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed quilting the last few years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who instilled in her daughters the importance of being independent thinkers.
She was the daughter of the late Ezra Bishop and Itier Lowry Martin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Powell, and by her brother, Edward B. Martin.
Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Louie Carlton, of Navarre, Fla., Margie and David Hendry, of Blackshear, and Nancy and Scott Davis, of Walterboro, S.C.; four grandchildren, Wendy (Bill) Clifton, Dan (Desiree’) Carlton, Erin (Janssen) Tucker and Lauren Hendry; four great-grandchildren, Samuel Powell Clifton, Lucy Anne Clifton, Ian Pierce Clifton and Emeline Lea Carlton; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held this afternoon at 4 o’clock at Blackshear First Baptist Church.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fla., Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The family kindly requests members of the Enriched Sunday School Class to serve as honorary pallbearers. They are asked to meet at the church by 3:30 this afternoon.

William H. Crawford
BLACKSHEAR — The funera for William Hardridge “Bill” Crawford, 80, was held Friday morning at 11 o’clock in the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Officiating was the Rev. Greg Carter.
Interment was in the Ramah Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of the Pierce County Nursing Home.
Pearson-Dial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
