Lillie Mae Harris
Mother Lillie Mae Barnar Harris, 86, transitioned to her heavenly home Thursday morning (Dec. 31, 2015) at Hospice House Satilla.
She was born July 16, 1929 in Ware County to the late Wilson and Clyde Barnar. In her early years, she married the Rev. Joe Harris and from this union six children were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Joe Harris, one son, Jack Harris, and siblings, Moses, Steve, Wilson, Tommy and Lucious Barnar, Mary Howard, Clyde Collins and Donna Atkins.
Those left to cherish her memories include two sons, Tommy Joe Harris (Andrea) and Jeffrey Harris; three daughters, Cynthia Hawkins, Grace Harris and Catherine Baldwin (Samuel); 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Lizzie Gaskins, Willie Mae Howard and Evelyn Smithson; one aunt, Rosa Miles (Amos); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Victory Cemetery in Manor.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Daniel Pittman
James Daniel “Dan” Pittman, 78, died Thursday night (Dec. 31, 2015) at his brother’s residence following an extended illness.
He was born in Clinch County but had lived in Waycross all of his life. He was a retired Health Inspector with the State of Georgia and a beekeeper for Sue Bee Honey. He was also a member of Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy.
He was a son of the late Joseph Edgar Pittman and Jessie Mae Henderson Pittman.
He is survived by his brother, Gerald Pittman (Carolyn), of Waycross; three nieces and nephews, Greg Pittman (Rose), of Manor, Debra Denmark (Al),, of Waycross, and Wayne Pittman (Teresa), of Blackshear; 16 great-nieces and great-nephews, Dannon Pittman, Jessie Pittman (Kaylan), Zack Pittman, Shelby Pittman, Will Thrift, Clay James (Mikel), Kelly Griffis (Lanier), Brice Denmark (Jennifer), Brett Denmark (Paige), Taylor Denmark (Kyra), Wayne Pittman (Lacy), Rachel Daniel (Garrett), Chris Pittman, Brandon Pittman, Brad Fitzgerald and Samantha Fitzgerald; and 17 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Bryson Pittman, Jace James, Mason Bean, Maddox Bean, Brylie Griffis, Hamp Griffis,  Brickson Denmark, Aniston Denmark, Tate Denmark, Kayden Denmark, Dax Denmark, Kaylah Pittman, Addison Pittman, Natalie Pittman, Hannah Pittman, Luke Daniel and Gage Daniel.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy.  Burial will follow in Suwannee Chapel Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends this evening at Music Funeral Home from 6 until 8 o’clock.

William L. Dixon
BLACKSHEAR — William L. Dixon, 80, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday evening (Dec. 30, 2015) at the Pierce County Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Bishop Leroy Williams
Bishop Leroy Williams, husband of Bernice Easton Williams, departed this life on Friday morning (Jan. 1, 2016) in Coffee Regional Medical Center, Douglas after a brief illness.
Friends are being received at the Williams residence 3310 north street.

William Lloyd Dixon
BLACKSHEAR — William Lloyd Dixon, 80, of Patterson, passed away Wednesday evening (Dec. 30, 2015) at the Pierce County Nursing Home.
Born in Patterson on July 23, 1935, he had lived in Pierce County most of his life. He was a retired farmer and loved planting a large garden and giving the produce to his family and friends until his health began to fail. An avid fisherman and hunter, he was one of the founding members of the Mershon Hunting Club and had also been a volunteer fireman with the Offerman Volunteer Fire Department.
He loved to cook and grill and one of his favorite things was hosting a 4th of July fish fry for his family. He was a member of Martha Memorial Methodist Church.
He was a son of the late Dan Daniel and Sallie Rentha Chancey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Smith Dixon; five sisters, Gladys Dixon, Clara Prescott, Belle Strickland, Josie Missouri Dixon, and Vera Dixon; and by 10 brothers, John Riley Dixon, Oden Dixon, Lewis Dixon, R.L. Dixon, James Dixon, Earl Dixon, Eugene Dixon, Dennis Dixon, Claude Dixon and Walter Dixon.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Timmy Metts, of Bristol; his sister, Betty Dixon, of Patterson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat and Jeanie Dixon and Lester and Dale Dixon, all of Blackshear; a granddog, Odie Metts; a grandcat, Percy Metts; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.
Visitation will be held this evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
The family kindly requests employees of the Pierce County Nursing Home to serve as honorary pallbearers. They are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 Sunday afternoon.

Albert Henderson
Albert Henderson, 71, died Wednesday (Dec. 30, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following an extended illness.
He was a born in Homerville but had lived most of his life in Ware County. He was a son of the late Ernie Lee Henderson and Louel Nell Herrin Henderson.
He was a retired truck driver for Lazy Brooks, Inc., and was a member of Pebble Hill Baptist Church. He was the founding member of Satilla River Rats.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Henderson, of Blackshear; a daughter, Monica Carnes, of Clayton; a son, Carl Henderson (wife Kim), of Powder Springs; three grandchildren, Erika Carnes, Alexandria Levit and Erin Davenport; two great-grandchildren, Bryleigh Davenport and Cohen Davenport; three sisters, Jean Cottle, Wanda Braddock and Tina Smith, all of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorialization will be by cremation. The family request memorials to be sent to Pebble Hill Baptist Church, 5755 Sandhill Road, Waycross, Ga. 31503. Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Claire Cook Banach
NICHOLLS — Claire Elizabeth Cook Banach, 70, of Nicholls, passed away late Tuesday evening (Dec. 29, 2015) at her residence.
Born in Binghamton, N.Y., Aug. 1, 1945, she lived in Blackshear for 30 years before moving to Nicholls 10 years ago.
She was a retired LPN having worked for the former Pierce County Hospital and was a housewife for the last several years. She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed painting, reading and fishing. She was a loving grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was a daughter of the late Merle Cook and Martha Shiffer Cook Shearer. She was also preceded in death by her infant twin sister and by her brother, Seth Cook.
Survivors include her husband of almost 50 years, John Banach, of Nicholls; two sons, John Banach, of Nicholls, and Dan and Cindy Banach, of Crestview, Fla.; a brother, Leland and Maureen Cook, of Binghamton; four grandchildren, Alex Banach (Ashlee Carr), Josh Banach (Hannah Harper), Drew Banach and Dalton Banach; a great-grandchild, Savannah Banach; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorialization will be by cremation.

Clarence ‘Pete’ West
A funeral for Clarence Thomas “Pete” West, 71, was held Wednesday evening at Music Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Roger Mays officiating.
Honors were performed by the Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard.

Hebert Kay Sr.
The funeral for Hebert Kay Sr., 909 Cedar St., Waycross, will be held today at 1 p.m. in the sanctuary of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 702 Arnold McKinney Drive, Waycross.
The Rev. Fer-rell M. Malone Sr., pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery, Moore Street, Blackshear.
The cartage will assemble at the residence at 12:15 p.m. today.
He was born Feb. 19, 1935 in Portal, son of the late Jessie and Katie Kay. He was the third of four children.
He departed this life Thursday (Dec. 24, 2015) at Waycross Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was employed at numerous logging and timber companies. He enjoyed being a father and grandfather, and doing lawn work.
His memory will be cherished by his children Patricia Butler (Willie), of Waycross, Herbert Kay Jr., of Bridgeport, Conn., Linda Kay (Donald Jones), Elaine Alexander (Victor), Brenda Smith (James), Larry Kay (Gia), Terrence Oliver, all of Waycross, and Sharon Jackson (Malcolm), of Macon; a devoted brother-in-law, Willie Oliver, of Pearson; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral for Juanell McCarty Cox was held Wednesday afternoon at Swamp Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Chancey and the Rev. Joe Chancey officiating.
Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Allen Music Jr., Brandon Music, Lance Watson, Kylar Thrift, Tony Thomas and Josh Griffin.
Honorary pallbearers were the men of Swamp Road Baptist Church.

BLACKSHEAR — The funeral for Jessica Lynn Dixon, 26, was held Thursday morning at 11 o’clock at the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Officiating was Danny Howell.
Interment was in the Shiloh Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Dustin Bryant, Seth Bryant, Brandon Thomas, Keith Dixon, Lucas Williams, Dixon Williams, Jared Wood and Brock Peacock.
