BLACKSHEAR — A traffic stop for speeding on Main Street in Blackshear turned up a supply of hydrocodone and a pair of boots stolen from Tractor Supply in Waycross that still had the security lock engaged, said Blackshear Police Chief Chris Wright.
Krystal Renee Towns, 34, of Patterson, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a Schedule II drug and speeding, said Wright. She was being held in the Ware County jail.
“Officer Brianna French stopped the vehicle, a blue Mercury Marquis, for speeding on Main Street. She asked for consent to search and was given permission,” said Wright. “The officer found on her person a pill bottle containing 19 pills identified as hydrocodone.’
During the course of the traffic stop, the officer noticed the woman was wearing a pair of boots that still had the safety lock in place and recalled seeing a notice that someone had stolen a pair of boots from Tractor Supply in Waycross earlier.
In Blackshear, she is charged with the drug possession and speeding. Blackshear police alerted Waycross police about the boots. Wright said he is not sure what charges the Waycross Police Department may bring but that they have been made aware of the stolen property. The boots were returned to the store, he said.
Towns was being held in the Pierce County jail.
