A Hoboken woman was injured Friday when a driver made a left turn into the path of her vehicle and the two collided at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Tebeau Street, said Waycross Police Capt. Tommy Cox.
It was one of two injury traffic accidents here Friday, Cox said.
Dorothy Hickox, 70, was taken by Ware County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of injuries she suffered in the 11:21 a.m. accident, said Cox.
Driving a 2007 Honda CRV, Hickox was westbound on Tebeau Street, approaching the intersection, which is governed by a traffic light. Cox said Nancy Burney, 61, of Blackshear, driving a 1996 Ford van, was eastbound on Dorothy Street and disregarded the red traffic light.
Cox said Burney’s vehicle was hit by the Hickox vehicle in the intersection.
Burney was charged with a red light violation, Cox said.
Officer Chase Deloach investigated the accident.
A Waycross man was slightly injured Friday afternoon when his pickup truck collided with a car at the intersection of Carswell Avenue and Tebeau Street, but refused medical treatment, said Cox.
Brandon Dean, 36, of Waycross, complained of injury but refused treatment and transport, Cox said.
Driving a 2004 Dodge Dakota, Dean was eastbound on Carswell Avenue approaching Tebeau Street. Cox said Aubrey Yeomans, 18, of Hoboken, driving a 2013 Toyota Corolla, was westbound on Carswell Avenue and made a left turn before the intersection was clear, causing the collision.
Yeomans was charged with failure to yield to oncoming traffic, said Cox.
Officer Timmy Lucas investigated the 5:06 p.m. accident.
