RAY CITY (AP) — Authorities are investigating after they say a driver struck a 4-year-old boy who was boarding a school bus in Lanier County.
The Valdosta Daily Times reports that Georgia State Police Cpl. Chris Kelch said the child was crossing the roadway early Monday to load the bus when he was hit by the vehicle, which left the scene.
The child was taken to the hospital. His condition wasn’t released Monday. No other children were injured during the accident.
Kelch says witness say that the vehicle that fled the scene was a silver or white mid-size passenger car.
Kelch says the bus had all red lights functioning along with the stop sign displayed at the time of the accident.
Anyone with any information about the vehicle is asked to contact police.
