Last year we raised $6,000 for SAS which is a non-profit organization formed in 1998 to provide services for sexual assault survivors in Ware, Pierce and surrounding counties. Our 24-hour crisis line provides crisis intervention for victims of sexual assault. Trained volunteers and professional counselors are available to assist child, adolescent and adult sexual abuse and assault survivors, their friends and family members with emotional support, information and referrals.’’ The special Fun Run will also feature for children’s interest a SWAT team demonstration, a fire truck, an ambulance, clowns, fingerprinting and the K-9 Unit from the Waycross Police Department. More captivating exhibits are also planned with many agencies and law and fire department personnel involved. (The next SAS advisory board and Run planning meeting is Monday, March 14, at 11:30 at the Regional Development Center across from McDonald’s on Corridor Z.)
