Kathy O’Neal Steedley
BLACKHEAR — Kathy O’Neal Steedley, 60, of Blackshear, passed away Friday morning (Feb. 19, 2016) at her residence after a brief illness.
Born in Waycross, she was the daughter of Robert Nolan and Jeanette Johns O’Neal Sr. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Garry O’Neal.
She worked for Charlton Visiting Nurses as a registered nurse and was of the Baptist faith. She loved her family, caring for her patients and animals.
Survivors include her husband, Angier Steedley, of Blackshear; her son and daughter-in-law, Kevis Stanley and Ruth Griffin, of Brunswick; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila Jeanette and Timmy Creech, of Waycross; three grandchildren, Tate Griffin, Karah Griffin and Harmon Creech; a sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Billy Nichols, of Hortense; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Larry and Evelyn O’Neal, of Hickox, Robert O’Neal and Terry O’Neal, both of Hortense; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was held Sunday evening at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
The funeral will be held today at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with the Rev. E.C. Crews officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dale Johns, Kevis Griffin, Tate Griffin, Timmy Creech, Billy Nichols and Charles Pollard Jr.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

Doris Suggs Carter
A funeral for Doris Suggs Carter, 80, of Waycross, took place Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Brother Larry Crawford officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Alan Arnold, Jonathan Golub, Trevor Murray, Brad Fulford, Will Crawford and Lance James.
Burial followed in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
Hart Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge of arrangements.

Johnnie B. Thomas
A funeral for Johnnie B. “Jake” Thomas took place Saturday morning at Sweat Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Freddie Smith and the Rev. Carlton Rowell officiating.
Selections of music were provided by soloist Robert Brannen singing “Beulah Land” and “When They Ring Those Golden Bells” and soloist Cheryl Tatum singing “I Bowed on my Knees and Cried Holy.”
Serving as active pallbearers were grandsons Cody Sanders, Ashley Thomas, Dylan Thomas, Jason Thomas, Jeremy Thomas and Shane Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers were the R.T. Lee Sunday School Class.
Arrangements were with Music Funeral Home.

Mary H. Hood
A funeral for Mary H. Hood was held Saturday morning at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barry Giddens officiating.
Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Wilkins, Dave Wilkins, Dan Wilkins, Chris McNeal, Jack Wilkins and David Wilkins III.
Miles-Odum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
