Joan Riley Boone
Joan Anita Riley Boone, 68, of Sevierville, Tenn., passed away Thursday (Feb. 18, 2016).
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Riley.
Survivors include her children, Kevin Boone, Karen Lough (husband, Jack); step-children, Douglas Boone (wife, Joann), Wayne Boone (wife, Terri), Jamie Boone (wife, Vivian); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Arthur, John, Lea and Rex Riley.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Caton’s Chapel Elementary School, where she served as a teaching assistant, 3135 Caton’s Chapel Road, Sevierville, Tenn. 37876.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6:45 p.m. Monday with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Lough officiating.

Doris Suggs Carter
Doris Suggs Carter, 80, of Waycross, died Thursday afternoon (Feb. 18, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following a short illness.
Born Aug. 21, 1935, in Blackshear, she was the daughter of the late Archie Kennon and Dessie Mae Dean Suggs. She lived all of her life in Blackshear and Waycross and was a housewife.
She was a member of Hacklebarney Baptist Church.
She will be remembered by her family as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Bryant, and her brother, Bobby Suggs.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Lloyd Carter, of Waycross; her two daughters, Debra Carter Rowell, of Blackshear, and Vickie Carter White (husband, Steve), of Waycross; three grandchildren, Leslie Rowell Fulford, of Waycross, Hannah Nicole White (fiancé, Alan Arnold), of Waycross, and Christopher Lloyd White, of Atlanta; a great-grandson, Gage Fulford, of Waycross; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will take place Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home in Blackshear.
Burial will follow in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday one hour prior to the service.

BLACKSHEAR — Kathy Steedley, of Blackshear, passed away Friday morning (Feb. 19, 2016) at her residence after a brief illness.

Dr. Robert Charles Lightfoot, 60, died Thursday evening (Feb. 18, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following an extended illness.

Sarah Bell Griffis
HOMERVILLE — Sarah Bell Teston Lloyd Griffis, 83, passed away Friday (Feb. 19, 2016) at her residence, surrounded by her loving family, following an extended illness.
She was born April 8, 1932, in Homerville, to the late Clarence Edward Teston Sr. and Mabel Bennett Teston. She worked at The Heritage Bank as a receptionist before her retirement and was a member of New Pine Grove Southern Congregational Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Talmadge Eugene Lloyd, her second husband, George Owen Griffis, one sister, Rita T. Carter, and one brother, Clarence Edward Teston Jr.
Survivors are one son, Clay Lloyd, of Homerville; two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Karla and Wade Daniel and Kristi and Jim Dickerson, all of Homerville; two sisters, Margaret Lee, of Manor, and Glenda Pope, of Kirtland, N.M.; one grandson, Clayton Lloyd; four step-grandchildren, Ryan (Tina) Daniel, Chase (Brooklyn) Daniel, Trey Dickerson and KristiAnna Dickerson; four step-great-grandchildren, Grayson Daniel, Cathryn Daniel, Braelyn Daniel and Nora Daniel; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at New Pine Grove Southern Congregational Methodist Church.
Interment will be in the New Pine Grove Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Roundtree Funeral Home. The body will be carried to the church one hour prior to the service.

Iva Lee Aldridge
A memorial service celebrating the life of Iva Lee Aldridge will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 24) at the graveside in Thomas Cemetery.
She was born in the Calvary Community of Brantley County to the late Lonnie E. Aldridge and Mattie Lee Highsmith.
She was retired from Bell-South Telephone Company and was a former member of First United Methodist Church of Waycross.
She is survived by a son, a sister, three brothers and numerous other relatives.
