BLACKSHEAR — A three-vehicle crash that killed a Baxley woman Tuesday on U.S. Highway 84 also injured a Blackshear man, said the Georgia State Patrol.
Jacqueline Taylor, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Amanda Dixon, GSP Waycross post secretary.
Edgardo Morales-Santes, 37, of Blackshear, was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of his injuries, said Dixon.
Taylor, driving a Ford Taurus, was eastbound on Georgia 38 in a heavy rain when her car hydroplaned, said Dixon. The Taylor vehicle began to rotate counterclockwise and entered the left turn lane, then struck a Nissan pickup truck driven by Jeremy Martinez, 20, of Waycross, who was westbound in the inside lane.
Dixon said Taylor’s car continued to spin across the inside lane and was hit by a Jeep Cherokee driven by Morales-Santes.
Taylor’s car continued to spin for 116 feet. Dixon said the Morales-Santes vehicle continued for 103 feet in the inside and outside lanes and Martinez’s truck began spinning counterclockwise for 240 feet in the inside lane, coming to final rest in the outside lane.
Trooper Sherman McClain was in charge of the investigation into the 5:40 p.m. accident.
