A Cook County man was injured Wednesday when a deer darted into the path of his vehicle, causing it to go out of control and overturn on Georgia 122 near Corbitt Road, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
Dale Anderson Patton, 18, of Overstreet Road, Sparks, was taken by Ware County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of injuries he sustained in the 10:57 p.m. accident, said Royal.
Driving a 2004 Honda CRV, Patton was eastbound on Georgia 122. He told lawmen that as he approached the Corbitt Road turnoff, a deer entered his path. The vehicle ran off the road and overturned into a ditch. Royal said Patton complained of shoulder pain and had several lacerations.
The vehicle showed extensive damage, the sheriff said.
Deputy Sgt. Bobby Aldridge investigated the accident.
