Roy P. McClung Sr.
Roy Preston McClung Sr., 95, died Tuesday morning (Dec. 6, 2016) at Pierce County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He was born in Hiram, Ga., but resided in Waycross most of his life. He retired from AT&T as a technician following 47 years of employment and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was also a member of Winona Park United Methodist Church and served many years in a ministry at Ware State Prison.
He was a son of the late William McClung and Mano Lillian Miles McClung.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, June Hosmer McClung, of Waycross; a daughter, Sharon McClung Callahan (Greg), of Blackshear; a son, Roy McClung Jr. (Dawn), of Baxley; four grandchildren, Misty Callahan, Scott Callahan, Sara McClung and Joey Conlin; four great-grandchildren, Cam Callahan, Presley McClung, Grayson McClung and Easton McClung; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakland Cemetery.
Music Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

SAVANNAH — The Rev. Andrew “Andy” Velie, 80, of Blackshear, passed away early Tuesday morning (Dec. 6, 2016) at the Memorial Medical Center in Savannah following a sudden illness.

Sallie Josephine “Josie” Hensley Gill, 68, of Waycross, passed away Tuesday evening (Dec. 6, 2016) at her residence surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness.

James ‘J.R.’ Gilliard
James Robert “J.R.” Gilliard, 82, died Wednesday morning (Dec. 7, 2016) at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Alma, after an extended illness.

Jesse Stephens
BLACKSHEAR — The funeral for Jesse Stephens, 63, was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Officiating were the Rev. Dwain Harper, Pastor John Miller and Randy Crosby.
Interment was in the Laura Chapel Cemetery.
Pearson-Dial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
