A Waycross man was injured Thursday after he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Brunel Street and his car was hit by another car, said Waycross Police Capt. Tommy Cox.
Kendrick Banks, 27, was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of injuries he suffered in the 6:16 p.m. accident, said Cox.
Driving a 2000 Toyota Camry, Banks was westbound on Washington Avenue approaching the intersection with Brunel Street. Cox said Banks ran the stop sign and entered Brunel Street where his car was hit by a 2006 Honda Accord driven by Christine Tanner, 36, of Waycross, who was northbound. Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the crash, Cox said.
Banks was charged with a stop sign violation, Cox said.
Officer Taylor Bristow was in charge of the investigation.
