Firefighters were called to the scene at 524 W. Waring St. at 5:29 a.m. and arrived at 5:37. The fire was out as of 6:08 a.m., said Varnadore.
Nobody was injured, he said. The owners and residents of the house are William and Julie Hand, Varnadore said. They were at home but were able to get out safely, he said.
The fire started near the back of the house, Varnadore said.
“The house was a total loss,” said Varnadore, adding that the cause of the fire was unknown.
Firefighters from Station I, the Ware County Structure Team and the Ware State Prison Fire Crew were on scene to help with the blaze, said Varnadore, who was in charge of the fire units.
Also standing by were Ware County Sheriff’s Department officials and Ware County Emergency Medical Service technicians, Varnadore said.
