BLACKSHEAR — A Blackshear woman was injured Wednesday when her sport utility vehicle crashed, vaulted and overturned on Cason Road, said the Georgia State Patrol.
Mary Swain, 46, was taken by Pierce County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of injuries she suffered in the 2:30 p.m. accident, said Steve Drury, GSP Brunswick post spokesman.
Driving a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, Swain was eastbound on Cason Road when the SUV veered onto the shoulder of the roadway. Drury said the vehicle continued for 190 feet on the shoulder, then struck a ditch with the front of the SUV. The vehicle then vaulted for 69 feet and overturned for 49 feet, coming to rest on its left side.
Swain was not wearing a seatbelt, Drury said.
Trooper Sherman McClain was in charge of the accident investigation.
