A 9-year-old boy was seriously injured Sunday when his motorcycle crashed on Beaver Trail, causing him to hurt his head, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
Keegan Wayne King, of Beaver Trail, was examined by Ware County Emergency Medical Technicians, then taken by helicopter to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah with serious head injuries, said Royal.
Riding a 2006 Honda 70 dirt bike on Beaver Trail near Ed King Lane, the youth was trailing behind a bicycle that was being ridden by Luke Andrew Waters, 15, of Beaver Trail, Royal said. He said the motorcycle struck the bicycle, causing the boy to fall to the ground unconscious. He was wearing a helmet, Royal said.
Waters only had some minor scratches as a result of the collision, said Royal.
The father of the 9-year-old was supervising the activity, Royal said.
“The father told us that he just got the motorized vehicle the day before and that he was watching the child ride it in front of their home,” said Royal.
Officer William Thomas investigated the 2:07 p.m. accident.
