A man was injured Tuesday night when he was knocked off his bicycle, presumably by a vehicle that then left the scene on Knight Avenue, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
Harry Hansel Watson Jr., 62, of Waycross, was riding a bicycle west on Knight Avenue, when it was struck from behind, knocking him onto the pavement at 10:17 p.m., Royal said in his preliminary report.
Watson told investigators that he believes he was hit by a vehicle but didn’t really see it and had no description to give them.
Watson suffered an injured left arm and elbow. He was transported by Ware County EMS to the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross emergency room for treatment, Royal said.
Georgia State Patrol Trooper Sherman McClain took the lead in the investigation. He was assisted by Ware County Cpl. Bill Thomas. McClain is still investigating the incident.
