Charles Wesley James
HOMERVILLE — Charles Wesley “Charlie” James, 80, passed away, Sunday (Aug. 7, 2016) at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 8, 1935 in Manor to the late Frank James and Georgie Estell James. He worked for MacArthur’s Barber Shop and was a member of New Vision Church of God.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Jewell Smith Corbitt, Mary Cook, Eula Mae Smith and Laura Bell Cribbs, three brothers, B.G. James, Lewis James and Edison James, and two nephews, Bobby Gene James and W. Allen Cook.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews, Billy L. James, George T. James, Phyllis Crumbley, Janelle Register James, Joy Hayes, Jane Williams, Judy James, Phillip Cook, Sarah Smith, Ila Smith Peavey, Carl Smith Jr., J. Randy Smith, Garry M. Smith, Linda Smith Morrison, Malcolm A. Smith and Laura Smith Davis; a number of great-nieces and great-nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at New Vision Church of God.
Interment will be in the Camp Branch Providence (Primitive Baptist Church) Cemetery, Manor.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. at New Vision Church of God.

Katherine Marie Hall
BLACKSHEAR — Katherine Marie Porter Hall, 88, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday afternoon (Aug. 7, 2016) at the Pierce County Nursing Home.
Born in Shady Grove, Fla., on Nov. 26, 1927, she lived in Lake County, Fla., for many years before moving to Pierce County 31 years ago. She was a housewife and dedicated mother and grandmother to all of her children. She dearly loved animals, was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.
She was a daughter of the late Willie and Liddie Sessions Porter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Arthur Hall, a son, Charles Edward Hall, a step-son, William Hall, both of her sisters, Sarah Porter and Mammie Porter, and a brother, Robert Porter.
Survivors include four daughters, Joyce (T.) Weldon, of Alma, Jewel (Bill) Tripp, of Folkston, Mary Nasworthy, of Jackson, Ga., Connie (Alvin) Woodard, of Blackshear; five sons, James Jr. (Cheryl) Hall, of Winter Haven, Fla., James Oscar Hall, of Blackshear, Ralph (Dawn) Hall, of Manor, Willie Hall, of Blackshear, and Johnny (Glenda) Hall, of Blackshear; a brother, Junior Porter, of Jacksonville, Fla.; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Visitation will be held this evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Old Oak Grove Cemetery in Hoboken.

Valencia Gail Goddard
Valencia Gail Goddard died Monday evening (Aug. 8, 2016) at Baptist Village Retirement Center after an illness.
Friends are being received at the Goddard residence, 308 Archie St.
