Eric James Moore
Eric James Moore, 22, of Blackshear, died Friday morning (Aug. 7, 2015) at his residence following an extended illness.
Born May 4, 1993 in Waycross, he was a lifelong resident of Blackshear and graduated in 2011 from Pierce County High School.
He was a member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church and enjoyed attending the Senior Adults Sunday School Class.
He loved life. He loved his family and friends, but most importantly, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR because of Dale Earnhardt, and the Dukes of Hazzard. A big thrill of his in life was the opportunities to meet both Dale Earnhardt Jr. and John Schneider (Bo Duke).
He will be remembered for always having a smile and believing he was an “overcomer.” Many times when his battle with Cystic Fibrosis had him very sick, he would overcome and never let his disease get him down.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, Bobby Joe Hammons, and his great-grandfather, Henry Holley.
Survivors include his parents, Stevie and Kandi Moore, of Blackshear; two sisters, Megan Moore and Holly Sweat, both of Blackshear; his brother, Anthony Moore, of Blackshear (currently stationed in California); his maternal grandmother, Deborah Sweat, of Waycross; his paternal grandparents, Sam and Wanda Youmans, of Blackshear; his great-grandmother, Lucille Holley, of Springfield, Fla.; two aunts, Kellie King and Angie Hammons, both of Brunswick; two uncles, Jamie Taylor, of Waycross, and Manuel Reeves, of Ohio; several cousins and other relatives.
A funeral will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Youmans Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Waters Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.
