Joe Ann Hesters Patton
Joe Ann Hesters Patton, 76, of Waycross, died Friday morning (Aug. 7, 2015) at her son’s residence after an extended illness.
She was born in Alma to the late Washington Colquitt Hesters and Bessie Jane Griffin Hesters. She made Waycross her home for most of her life.
She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to fish and was an avid hunter who enjoyed her time as a member of the Big Swamp Hunting Club.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wayne Patton, a son, Edward Alton Adams, and a sister, Connie Martin.
She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Ann Ellenback (husband, Cuz), of Waycross, Denise Sweat (husband, Raymond), of Waycross; her sons, Dr. Kenneth Adams (wife, Deborah), of Gunnedah, Australia, Joe Medina, of Waycross; a daughter-in-law, Lynn Adams, of Dickerson, Texas; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two very special hunting and fishing friends, Janet Griffin, of Waycross, and Johnny “Slow Moe” Rowland; of Waycross; and numerous other relatives.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Piney Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 at Miles-Odum Funeral Home.

Paul Towns
Paul Towns, 72, of McRae, died Friday (Aug. 7, 2015).
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Community Church of God, Helena. Burial will follow in Harrelson Family Cemetery.
A native and lifelong resident of McRae, he was the son of the late Guy C. and Christine Briley Towns. He was married to the late Ruby Horne Towns. A U.S. Army veteran, he was retired from the State of Georgia Prison System. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Towns, and a sister, Guynell Kennedy.
Survivors include his children, Paul Allen (Susan) Towns and Nancy Jo Harris, both of McRae; brothers and sisters, Jean (Ralph) Horne, of Helena, Eloise (Jack) Yawn, of Rhine, Wyoma (Gene) Johns, of Warner Robins, Daniel (Pam) Towns, of Hazlehurst, David Towns, of Chauncey, and Wyleen (Stuart) Haskins, of Eatonton; grandchildren, Kayla Harris, Jerry Allen Harris, Brian Towns, Heather Towns and Cole Towns; close friends, Fred Draper, Gloria Oliver, Jerry and Wanda Harris, Lisa and Jerry Mullaly; and several nieces and nephews.

Alma L. Chaney
A funeral for Alma L. Taylor Batten Chaney took place Saturday afternoon in the Music Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Batten, the Rev. Terry Griffis and the Rev. Franklin Peacock officiating.
Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Blake Batten, Zachry Batten, Kevin Pippin, Johnny Batten, Owen Miller and Shawn Griffis.
Thomas D. Banks Sr.
A funeral for Thomas D. Banks Sr. took place Saturday morning at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Hurst and Johnny Dixon officiating.
Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were Clinton Banks, Aaron Banks, Richard Morris, Brent Westberry, Kuff Thrift and Pierce Thrift.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were deacons of Calvary Baptist Church, members of the Ware County Exchange Club, Wymon Bond, Ralph Mercer and Jack Howell.
Arrangements were with Music Funeral Home.

A memorial service for Mary Alice Rinck was held Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Bob Cushing officiating.
Miles-Odum Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
