LaVene Dvorak
LaVene Dvorak, 75, of Jordan, Minn., died Thursday (April 7, 2016) peacefully at her home after complications following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was proud of the fact that she had beaten the cancer but succumbed to complications following an infectious process. She loved life and refused to believe that death was imminent, almost to the end.
She was born Oct. 11, 1940, in Manor, to J.B. and Alice L. (Waters) Harrell. She was raised and educated in the Millwood area. She raised four children in various parts of the U.S., including Waycross, Anchorage, Alaska, Jacksonville, Fla., and Seattle, Wash.
On Dec. 23, 1974, she moved to Minnesota after she married Joseph R. Dvorak in Waycross. She worked for 30 years as a records coordinator at the Minnesota Women’s Correctional Facility in Shakopee.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s group. She loved crocheting and crossword puzzles but her highest priority was time with family and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, of Jordan, Minn.; children, Jeff (Patty) Spicer, of New Prague, Glen (Diane) Spicer, of Oakdale, Minn., Vanessa Spicer (Rick Schaeppi), of St. Paul, Hope (Dale) Tiedeken, of Jordan, Don (Eileen) Dvorak, of Esko, Minn.; a sister, Jakey (Wilford) White, of Axson; a brother, Brian Harrell, of Waycross; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Elizabeth, John William, Marie, Gary and Larry.
A memorial service was to be held today at Zion United Methodist Church in Lydia, Minn., at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Kasten officiating.
Visitation was 1 hour prior to service also at church.
Lunch will follow immediately after the service at church.
Burial will occur at a later date in Georgia.

Dylan R. McCullough
Dylan Ryan Morris McCullough, 16, of Nahunta, passed away Wednesday (April 6, 2016) at Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah.
He was born in St. Marys, Sept. 24, 1999. He attended the Waynesville Church of God, Victory Baptist Church, Browntown Baptist Church and Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He loved racing and mud bogging at Southern Thunder Mudbogs, Swainsboro Mudbogs and East Coast Off Road Park.
He enjoyed working on his truck and fixing anything that needed fixing.
He attended school at Southside Christian Academy, Blackshear, Folkston, Brantley, Collins and Ware County where he loved playing baseball, football and basketball.
He is survived by his father, Joey McCullough; mother and step-father, Lorie and David Lindsay; three brothers, David Lindsay II, Jacob Lindsay, Jordan Lindsay; a sister, Hope Lindsay; grandparents, Shelb Martin, David and Sueann McCullough; great-grandparents, Mary Roddenberry, Lawton and Doris Morris II, Ray and Margie McCullough; aunts, Christina Keene, Brook Martin, Kelli Chesser, Lisa Morris, Leann Keys and Deanna Morris; uncles, Harley Hash, Chad McCullough; and a number of cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lawton Morris III, great-grandparents, Jessie Roddenberry and Milton and Earnestine Horne.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at Shepard-Roberson Funeral Home in Folkston, beginning at 6 p.m.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim King and the Rev. Bobby Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery.

Levon Shatteen
Levon Shatteen, 57, of Waycross, died Sunday (April 10, 2016) at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., after a brief illness.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Miles-Odum Funeral Home.

Mary C. Grainger
Mary Carter Grainger, 52, died Monday morning (April 11, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross after an illness.
Friends are being received at the Grainger residence, 1129 Folks Place.

Bessie Hodge Monroe
SALUDA, S.C. — Bessie Rebecca Hodge Monroe, 85, died Friday (April 8, 2016) at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Bath County, Va., she was formerly of Folkston and was a daughter of the James and Lanie Belle Shaffier Hodge. She was the wife of the late Art Monroe.
She was a retired auctioneer.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph McCary (Paula), of Providence, Ky., and Cecil Whittle (Belva), of Millboro, Va.; two daughters, Virginia Henry (Lee), of Saluda, and Jane Adams, of Prattsville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
No service is planned at this time.

Robert ‘Andy’ Cagle
Robert A. “Andy” Cagle, 67, of Covington, passed away Sunday (April 3, 2016) at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, following a valiant fight with cancer.
He was born in Waycross, in 1949 to Lillian and Ernest P. Cagle. He was a retired accountant. He also loved music and played in bands around south Georgia most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers, Carlton and Clifford Cagle, sisters, Deloris Cagle and Leona Casey, niece, Margie Murphey, and nephew, Scott Cagle.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 27 years, Mitzi W. Cagle; daughter, Kimberly Poston (Jon); sister, Pauline Kilday; brother, Alton Cagle (Dean); sister-in-law, Barbara Cagle; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; along with many great friends and two beloved canine companions.
As per Robert’s request, no service will be held.
