ALMA — A 6-year-old boy drowned Saturday afternoon in a swimming pool while attending a birthday party here, said a spokesman for the Bacon County Sheriff’s Department.
The name of the child was withheld in reports, said Investigator Stan Livingston.
Several children at the party were playing in the pool, Livingston said, when it was noticed that the boy was not among them. He was found at the bottom of the pool, Livingston said. His family tried to revive him with CPR, he said. The boy was taken to the Bacon County Hospital where he died, Livingston said.
The drowning took place about 4:05 p.m. at a house on Friendship Church Road near Alma, Livingston said.
