Two people were taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross early today following a multiple-vehicle crash on the South Georgia Parkway at its intersection with Anita Street, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
A total of six vehicles were involved, the sheriff said.
None of the names of the victims or the drivers were available, Royal said. The injuries were thought to be minor, he said.
The accident occurred at 6:47 as the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado, headed south on Anita Street, failed to stop at the intersection stop sign. The truck was hit in the driver side by a westbound Toyota Camry, Royal said.
A third vehicle, a Kenworth tractor trailer loaded with long logs went out of control at the crash site, overturned onto the driver’s side and spilled its load of logs all over the roadway, said Royal. The logs struck two other vehicles and another vehicle steered wide to avoid hitting the debris and ran into a sign post.
The investigation is continuing, Royal said.
